The First VisitWhilst the majority of people consult the practice directly, an increasing number are being referred by their GP. Most people can be seen within 24 hours. In the initial consultation a detailed case history is taken in order to assist in the diagnosis and to determine whether Osteopathy would be applicable. Examination usually requires inspection of the whole musculoskeletal frame, so one may be requested to undress to their underwear. The examination will involve a full relevant clinical examination. The diagnosis and treatment plan will be explained to you, and treatment commenced. At all times you will know precisely what is going on. Treatment naturally varies, but will normally incorporate deep massage work in combination with techniques used to improve movement in the relevant joint. Additional advice such as exercise, postural and hydrotherapy is given in order to increase the effectiveness of the treatment and prevent the reoccurrence of the original problem. Sometimes it will be appropriate to request more details from your GP or medical advisor, always with your consent. Evening & Weekend AppointmentsTo provide flexibility, appointments are available during Monday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday morning. Home VisitsHome visits can be made in the case of an emergency or advice can be given over the telephone in order to determine whether such a visit is benficial. | |||
